How to import videos shot on iphone into Adobe Premiere Pro

Hey if you are wondering howcan i convert ".MOV" file to ".mp4", how actually can i import .MOV videos into Adobe premiere pro/Final Cut Pro/DaVinci Resolve etc, for processing it! don't be afraid here we are with permanent solution for it.

What is ".MOV" file?

A MOV file is a common multimedia container file format developed by Apple and compatible with both Macintosh and Windows platforms. It may contain multiple tracks that store different types of media data and is often used for saving movies and other video files. MOV files commonly use the MPEG-4codec for compression.

Tool used :

HandBrake is an open-source video transcoder available for Linux, Mac, and Windows. Everyone can use HandBrake to make videos for free. Download application from below link https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

So, how convert it into .MP4?

  1. Problem with videos that are taken from iphone is that it will be saved as ".MOV" (Quick time movie), it's file extension by which videos taken in iphone gets saved by default.

  2. Strange part is that you can play those videos in your system but you cannot be able to use those files for editing.

  3. If you try to import those videos into Adobe Premiere pro it

a. sometimes imports only the audio from it

b. it pops-up "codec missing or unavailable" message.

4. Once it gets downloaded, open "HandBrake-1.3.2-x86_64-Win_GUI.exe" (i'm using win 64bit machine) finish the setup process by clicking "next" & "install", it will ask for ".net" version "4.8.39" to continue, download that by clicking "yes to continue" option that you get after successfully installing "HandBrake" application.

5. Open "HandBrake" application, click on "file" and select the file which you want to convert to ".mp4" format.

6. Make sure "format" is ".mp4", browse the destination folder where you want to save it and click on "start Encode" option to start the conversion process!, once process gets completed you can find the converted file in the destination folder.

That's it! import converted file into Adobe premiere pro and start editing.
